Thorsten Grümbel

Biography

The young bass Thorsten Grümbel, holder of several prizes from singing competitions, studied singing at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck and Detmold. He has appeared as a guest in Schwerin, Essen, Hannover, Hagen, Nuremberg, at the Bavarian State Opera and on other stages. In addition to an extensive concert programme, his repertoire includes operatic roles, among them Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro), Kothner and the Night Watchman (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Melisso (Alcina), Sarastro and the Speaker (Die Zauberflöte), Eremit (Der Freischütz), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), the Commander and Masetto (Don Giovanni), Colline (La Bohème), La Roche (Capriccio) and Caronte (L’Orfeo). Since the 1999/2000 season he has been a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
