Stepan Drobit

Biography

Ukrainian baritone Stepan made his National Theatre Opera debut in August 2023 as Giorgio Germont (La traviata). He studied at Ivan Franko National University in Lviv. While still a student, he was active as a chorister and later soloist with various choral ensembles in Lviv. Since 2014 he has been a soloist of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Philharmonic in the western-Ukrainian city of Khmelnytskyi. He has appeared in solo recitals at major European venues, including Culture and Congress Centre  in Lucerne, the Konzerthaus Berlin or the Alte Oper Frankfurt, as well as in Oslo and Helsinki. In 2017 he made his debut as Nabucco at the Lviv National Opera, where he returned in 2019 in the role of Telramund (Lohengrin). He guest appeared with his creation of Nabucco at the Silesian Opera in Bytom, Poland, in 2020, and in 2021 made his first appearance at the National Opera of Ukraine in Kyiv, as Giorgio Germont (La traviata). This was followed by his debut, in 2022, at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, in the role of Amonasro (Aida). He is a regular guest of the Lviv National Opera, the National Opera of Ukraine, and the Silesian Opera.
