Biography

Sami Gossart, a French dancer, is recognized for his versatility and technical prowess across classical, neoclassical, and contemporary repertoires. Fluent in French, English, and Portuguese, Sami’s international background has shaped his dynamic career.

His professional journey began at the Regional Conservatoire of Toulouse, where he trained from 2009 to 2012, before moving to the Paris Opera Ballet School (2012–2014). He then continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon (2014–2018). In 2018, he joined the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School in New York, where he refined his artistry before embarking on his professional career with the Bordeaux National Opera in 2019. Since 2020, Sami has been a distinguished member of the Czech National Ballet, contributing to the company’s success in Prague.

Sami’s repertoire encompasses a broad range of classical roles. He has performed as Gremin and in the corps in Onegin and as Tybalt and corps in Romeo and Juliet (both choreographed by John Cranko). His versatility is evident in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vàmos), where he danced the solo role of Bob Cratchit “Devil” and in The Sleeping Beauty (Márcia Haydée), where he portrayed the Prince of the East and the Wolf. Other classical highlights include Kiefaber in A Streetcar Named Desire (John Neumeier), Cockerel and friends in La Fille Mal Gardée (Frederick Ashton), Prince’s friends in Cinderella (Jean-Christophe Maillot), Pas de Six in La Sylphide (Johan Kobborg), and friends in Coppélia (Ronald Hynd).

In the neoclassical and contemporary repertoire, Sami has delivered compelling performances in works such as Gods and Dogs (Jiří Kylián), The Second Detail (William Forsythe), EDEN | EDEN (Wayne McGregor), Fly Paper Bird (Marco Goecke), Bill (Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar), and Handman (Edward Clug). His notable roles include Steven in Moving Rooms (Krzysztof Pastor), soloist parts in Frank Bridge Variations (Hans van Manen), and Marcos in Fly Paper Bird (Marco Goecke).

Sami’s contributions to the Czech National Ballet’s productions also include performances in Kafka: The Trial (Mauro Bigonzetti), Leonce & Lena (Christian Spuck), Prelude und Liebestod (Cayetano Soto), and Puppet (Douglas Lee). His previous engagements with Bordeaux National Opera featured Notre Dame de Paris (Roland Petit), and he performed in Whipped Cream (Alexei Ratmansky) during his time with the American Ballet Theatre.

Through his captivating stage presence and dedication, Sami continues to make a profound impact on the world of ballet, demonstrating artistic depth and adaptability in every performance.
