He was born in Catânia (Sicily), attended the Scuola Civica in Milan, and studied singing with E. Abumradi, E. Martelli and A. Goussev. He attended master classes focusing on Baroque vocals that were taught by A. Curtis. His solo career developed in partnership with prestigious ensembles that specialize in the Baroque repertoire. For example, he has worked with: A sei voci (Bernard Fabre-Garrus), Cappella della Pietà de’ Turchini (A. Florio), Concerto Barocco (A. Curtis), Coro della Radio Svizzera (D. Fasolis), Ensemble Concerto (R. Gini), Ensemble Elyma (G. Garrido), Ensemble Forte Piano (A. Frigé), Harmonices Mundi (C. Astronio), I Madrigalisti Ambrosiani and Il canto di Orfeo (G. Capuano), La Risonanza (F. Bonizzoni), La stagione armonica (S. Balestracci), and La Venexiana (C. Cavina). In the 2000-2001 season, under the musical direction of Roberto Gini, he sang in the production of Monteverdi’s work Il combattimento with the Raffaello Sanzio Society. This inscenation was directed by Romeo Castellucci, and was brought to the most important European theatre festivals such as the Kunsten Festival des Arts in Brussels, the Wiener Festwochen in Vienna, the Holland Festival in Amsterdam, the Festival d’Automne in Paris, and the Biennale in Venice. He has recorded with the firms Stradivarius, Chandos, K617, Dynamic, Amadeus, and Glossa.
