BiographyMirka Eliášová was born in 1975. In 1997 she graduated from the Dance Institute of the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts, specialising in choreography. Her main focus is contemporary dance. She has created a host of independent dance projects, among them: No konečně! (At Last!), Moment, Cítíte se skvěle? (Do You Feel Great?), Il Divino Boemo (in collaboration with the stage director Ladislav Štros), Dech puls okamžik (Breath Pulse Moment), Kapka v moři (A Drop in the Ocean). In 2000 she won the Prix de Intelekt (for the best performance of the Czech dance platform) for the performance Cítíte se skvěle?. In 2001 she was awarded a prize at the student film festival in Písek for the dance film Barevný život (Colourful Life), directed by Ctibor Turba. She has presented her performances at both Czech and international dance festivals. She has collaborated as an assistant choreographer with Petr Zuska and Jan Kodet, as a dancer with, for example, Petr Tyc, Victoria Marks, Lizzy le Quesne. She has collaborated with stage director Jiří Nekvasil on the opera productions of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Smetana’s The Secret in the National Theatre Prague.
