Biography

Korean bass-baritone Minsoo Ahn is based in Vienna, Austria. Recent and forthcoming engagements include Der Holländer (Der fliegende Holländer) for Salzburger Landestheater at the Felsenreitschule, Tonio (Pagliacci) for the Moravian Theatre Olomouc and the Stavovské Divadlo Praha, Nabucco (Nabucco) in Olomouc, and Haly (L’italiana in Algeri) for Norrlandsoperan in Sweden.

He has received particular critical praise for his performances in contemporary opera, including Wolfgang Liebhart’s Edenarabseke at Wien Modern and Beat Furrer’s La Bianca Notte at the *Klangspuren Festival. His repertoire further includes Nick Shadow (The Rake’s Progress), Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Profondo (Il viaggio a Reims), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Alfio (Cavalleria rusticana), and Tonio (Pagliacci), with appearances across Austria, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and South Korea.

In concert, Minsoo Ahn has appeared at leading venues including the Vienna Konzerthaus, Musikverein Graz, and Brucknerhaus Linz, and with orchestras such as the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra and Thüringen Philharmonie. He is a multiple international competition prizewinner, including awards from the Fidelio Competition Vienna, Osaka International Music Competition, Giangiacomo Guelfi Competition, Johannes Brahms Competition, and the Gabriela Beňačková Competition.
