She was born in Moscow. As a little girl she danced in various productions of the Bolshoi Ballet and in 1995 she began to study at the State Academy by the Bolshoi Theatre. Later she moved to Stuttgart where she continued her studies at John Cranko Schule (2003–2006). Her first professional engagement was in the National Theatre Brno where she performed following roles:
Big Swan and Bride in Swan Lake (R. Strajner), Snow Queen in Nutcracker (V. Medveděv), Madame de Tourvel in Les Liaisons Dangereuses (K. Pastor).
She also danced in Romeo and Juliet (Z. Prokeš), Le Corsaire (V. Medveděv), Spartacus (J. Kyselák), Tango (B. Roznos), Raymonda (J. Slavický), Frida (J. Kodet), Coppélia on Montmartre (Y. Vàmos), Carmen (C. Soto), Giselle (R. Strajner) and La Bayadère (M. Petipa).
In 2013 Marina joined the Czech National Ballet in Prague, she is a demisoloist (since 2015) and dances in many productions, both modern and classical.
On the National Theatre stage she appeared in many classical ballets: Swan Lake (P. Ďumbala and H. Vláčilová) where she performed Pas de Trois, Big Swan and Russian Dance; Swan Lake (K. Greve) where she danced the Big Swan again and Hungarian Dance; The Nutcracker and the Cuddly Mouse (P. Zuska) and TheSnow Queen (M. Corder).
On a regular basis she danced in modern productions: Amerikana III / Theme and Variations (G. Balanchine), Czech Ballet Symphony II / Stabat Mater (P. Zuska), Ballettissimo /1st Symphony in D major (P. Zuska) and 7th Symphony in A major (U. Scholz), OHAD NAHARIN: decadance (O. Naharin) and Tremble (P. Zuska).
Currently she dances in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Y. Vàmos), La Bayadère (J. Torres) where she performs Pas d’action, La Fille mal gardée (F. Ashton) where she dances Liseˋs friend.
Marina is a versatile, highly experienced dancer who currently appears in many modern productions: Romeo and Juliet (P. Zuska), Vertigo / Rain (R. Poklitaru) and Cacti (A. Ekman), The Little Mermaid (J. Kodet), Timeless / Serenade (G. Balanchine) a Le sacre du printemps (G. Tetley), Slavic Temper / Aspects (K. Kozielska), Kylián – Bridges of Time / Symphony of Psalms (J. Kylián).
Marina Zhukovskaya has been living in the Czech Republic since 2006, speaks Czech and Italian. She is interested in literature, fine arts and fashion.
