Liběna Rochová

Biography

A Czech fashion and costume designer, founder of Studio LR and head of the Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.

Born in 1951 in Brno, Liběna Rochová studied at the Secondary School of Fashion and Textiles. She has been a prominent Czech designer since the 1970s. In the 1980s, she established the LR brand, and since 1999 she has run her own Studio LR, providing support to young talent.

Liběna Rochová has presented her creations at fashion shows and exhibitions in Vienna, Paris, Lyon, Düsseldorf, New York, Los Angeles, and elsewhere. Her works are on display at the Musée des Tissus in Lyon, and the Museums of Decorative Arts in Prague and Brno.

She has designed costumes for numerous films, theatre and television productions. The most noteworthy of her accolades include Designer of the Season (1992) and Outstanding Design (1995). Her Homage to Glass collection received second prize at the Czech Grand Design exhibition (2009).

Liběna Rochová has headed the Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague for 12 years. She has also pursued beneficence activities, collaborating with the Debra medical charity. She co-founded and is a patron of the UNICEF Adopt a Doll and Save a Child project.
