Jana Návratová

Biography

Jana Návratová studied art theory, theatre and film studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. Since 1989, she has worked at the Arts and Theatre Institute, currently specialising in dance, second career and artist status. She is also a writer, editor, culture event manager, dance and physical theatre curator. Moreover, she has carried out research projects focused on analysing the dance sector, and written and edited articles for the Czech Dance in Data series. From 1992 to 2005, she taught at the Duncan Centre Conservatory in Prague. Between 2005 and 2010, she was editor-in-chief of Taneční zóna (Dance Zone), a contemporary dance magazine. In 2009, she established the biennial Dance Film Festival in Prague, of which she is artistic director. Since 2005, Jana Návratová has been chair of the Board of the Dance Career Foundation. She has collaborated with culture specialists and media, including Czech Radio (Vltava station), Czech Television and the aktuálně.cz portal.
