Biography
Permanent guest of the National Theatre Opera.
Iveta Žižlavská was born in Bratislava where she also studied at the conservatoire in the class of Prof. Krystyna Figurová. Before she graduated she had engagement in the State Opera in Olomouc. She was given well-known parts such as Verdi’s Violetta (La traviata) and Elisabeth (Don Carlos), Adina (Donizetti: L’elisir d’amore). After four years in 1984 she was offered a place in The National Theatre in Prague. She started there with her repertoire, which was many times extended in very short time: Leonora (Verdi: Il trovatore), Musetta (Puccini: La bohème), Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammemoor etc.
Her aptitude for music and her talent for acting have been useful in very difficult operas, for example Mirandolina by Bohuslav Martinů. The audience has the opportunity to see her in Vienna, Zurich or Basel in pieces such as Stabat Mater by Rossini, Requiem by Mozart etc.
