Biography
The bass Hans-Peter König launched his singing career at the International Opera Studio in Zürich. Engagements in Wuppertal, Detmold, Darmstadt, Bern and Hannover followed. Since the 2001/2002 season he has been a soloist with Deutsche Oper am Rhein. His extensive repertoire includes the roles of Rocco (Fidelio), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Jasper (Der Freischütz), Zacharias (Nabucco), the Inquisitor (Don Carlos), La Roche (Capriccio), Gremin (Eugene Onegin) and Boris (Boris Godunov). The centre of his career however rests in Wagner roles, namely, Daland (The Flying Dutchman), Pogner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Marke (Tristan und Isolde) Gurnemanz (Parsifal) and Hagen (Götterdämmerung).
