Biography

Polish soprano Ewa Płonka made her National Theatre Opera debut in April 2022 in the role of Aida. She has guest appeared at the Oper Frankfurt (Maddalena, Rigoletto and Azucena, Il trovatore), at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe (Giovanna Seymour, Anna Bolena), the Polish National Opera in Warsaw (Aida), Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Lady Macbeth, Macbeth), Arena di Verona (Abigaille, Nabucco), the Wrocław Opera (Tosca), the Teatro Verdi di Salerno (Turandot), the Teatro Massimo di Palermo (Abigaille, Nabucco) and at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London (Venus, Tannhäuser), among others. Ewa Płonka is also an active concert singer and pianist. She graduated from the Juilliard School in New York, majoring in opera singing. She holds degrees in piano performance from the Academy of Music in Poznań, Poland, from Oklahoma City University and the University of Utah.
