Bregje van Balen
Biography
A Dutch costume designer, formerly a dancer and long-term member of Nederlands Dans Theater. Bregje van Balen studied at the Nationale Ballet Academie in Amsterdam, and danced with NDT I and II for 18 years. She has created costumes since 1995. After retiring as a dancer, she trained as a designer at the Baruch Mode Academie. Besides NDT, she has worked with the Norwegian National Ballet, Hamburg Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatres, Opéra de Lyon, Compañía Nacional de Danza and numerous other companies. She has designed costumes for Cathy Marston, Alexander Ekman, Jo Strømgren, Jorma Elo, Johan Inger, Lukáš Timulák and many other choreographers.
