Alessandro Zuppardo

Biography

The chorus master Alessandro Zuppardo will colaborate with the National Theatre in Prague in the 2023/24 season for the very first time (on a new production of Nabucco). He directed opera choirs in Frankfurt (2003–2008), Trieste (2010–2011) and Leipzig (2011–2018), and has worked with a number of theatres, including  the Opéra de Nice (Lucia di Lammermoor and Falstaff, 2023), Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg (2018–2022), KGL Copenhagen (Otello, 2018), Staatstheater Darmstadt (2017/2018), Teatro Verdi in Trieste (2010/2011), Luglio Musicale Trapanese in Trapani (Macbeth, Nabucco, Aida, La Sonnambula, 2001) and Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa (Die Fledermaus and Manon, 1998), and was engaged as a coach and accompanist at the Arena di Verona (1981–82, 1991–92) and elsewhere. A passionate pianist, he also accompanies academies, masterclasses, concerts and recitals, performing with Renato Bruson, Fabio Armiliato, Mariella Devia, Roberto Scandiuzzi, Cecilia Bartoli, Vincenzo La Scola, and other renowned artists. He had also taught at the University of Stavanger, the Casa de Mateus with Teresa Berganza, in Barcelona alongside Virginia Zeani, in Busseto with Carlo Bergonzi, etc.
