Aldona Budny

Corps de ballet member of The Czech National Ballet

Biography

Polish dancer Aldona Budny (born 1998) has from an early age built a reputation as an artist who combines technical assurance with a deeply dramatic stage presence.

Her first steps in dance were taken at the State Ballet School in Warsaw (2008–2014), followed by further training at the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin (2014–2017). In 2017 she entered the Ballet Academy at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where under the guidance of distinguished professors she refined her classical discipline while expanding her contemporary vocabulary.

After her studies she joined the Bayerisches Staatsballett Junior Company (2018–2019), where she first experienced a wide repertoire ranging from pure classicism to neoclassical works. She then became a member of the Polish National Ballet under the direction of Krzysztof Pastor (2019–2024), where she appeared in works by major choreographic voices: Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Tempest, Bolero, Dracula, Giselle (after Maina Gielgud), Don Quixote (Alexei Fadeyechev), Mayerling (Kenneth MacMillan), La Bayadère (Natalia Makarova), Carmen Suite, and the Sugar Plum Fairy Pas de Deux from The Nutcracker. Her range also embraced the raw physicality of Marco Goecke’s All Long Dem Day, the Spanish-flavoured Concierto Madrigal by Nacho Duato, Kinsun Chan’s storytelling in Peter und der Wolf, the romantic drama of John Neumeier’s The Lady of the Camellias, and the witty elegance of Jiří Kylián’s Sechs Tänze.

Her artistry has been recognised with numerous awards: a bronze medal at the International Ballet Competition Kyiv Grand Prix (Ukraine), a gold medal in the internal choreography and ballet competition at the Staatliche Ballettschule Berlin, as well as silver and gold distinctions at nationwide competitions in Gdańsk and Łódź. She further broadened her horizons through participation in prestigious programmes such as The Royal Ballet Summer School and the Paris Opera Ballet Summer School.

Fluent in Polish, English and Russian, with good German, Aldona brings to the stage an international outlook enriched by linguistic versatility and cultural adaptability. Standing 170 cm tall with a refined, elegant line, she projects both ethereal grace and concentrated energy, transforming each role into a compelling dramatic statement that resonates with audiences across Europe.
