Biography

A multimedia artist, Marianna Stránská focuses on the audience as a specific component of staged works. She has collaborated with theatre and film directors in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, France and the USA. Since 2010, she has been a member of a group of visual artists, exhibiting within the Orbis pictus or ... project. In 2012, she received a nomination for the Czech Lion award in the best costume category. Since 2013, she has been stage director of the Žebřiňák itinerant troupe, and she co-founded and chairs the Stransky ART Company. At the present time, she works as an independent creator and, as a co-writer and designer, co-operates with the director Vít Klusák. Since 2014, within her doctoral studies, she has been a lecturer in alternative and puppet theatre at the Theatre and Film Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. She worked with Arnaud Bernard on the production of Verdi’s Les vêpres siciliennes, staged at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.
