Biography

She began her education with baritone Werner Schürmann and continued her studies with KS Olivera Miljaković and tenor Jan Vacík. In Munich she had the opportunity to work intensively with Richard Trimborn. From 1998-2000 she was engaged at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater in Schwerin. In the summer of 2001 she made her debut as Puccini's Tosca at the Wernigeröder Schlossfestspiele. She was a soloist at the Thüringer Nationaltheater in Eisenach in 2001-03. Her repertoire includes Verdi's Leonore (Il trovatore), Amelie (Un ballo in maschera), Aida and Desdemona (Otello), Dvořák's Rusalka, Martha in D'Albert's Tiefland, in which she also appeared at the Prague State Opera, Puccini's Tosca and Turandot, Strauss's Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Chrysothemis and Elektra (Elektra), Wagner's Senta (Der fliegende Holländer), Elisabeth and Venus (Tannhäuser), Elsa and Ortrud (Lohengrin), Sieglinde and Brünnhilde (Die Walküre), Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) and Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur, which she performed at the National Theatre in Prague. At the National Theatre she also sang Donna Anna (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Katerina (Martinů: The Greek Passion) and Giulietta (Offenbach: Les contes d‘Hoffmann). She has appeared as a guest at the Houston Grand Opera, Utah Opera, Edmonton Opera, Opéra de Montréal and at opera houses in Hamburg, Leipzig, Braunschweig, Wiesbaden, Freiburg, Saarbrücken, Dortmund, Bielefeld, Münster, Ljubljana, Vienna, Venice, Bolzano, Modena, Milan, Brno, Ostrava and Bratislava. In 2021 she made her first appearance at the Arena di Verona and in 2022 she made her debut as Ortrud at Covent Garden in London.

In 2017 she received the prestigious Thalia Award for outstanding vocal performance as Desdemona at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre Ostrava.
