Biography

Elena Guseva graduated from the Choirmaster Department of the Shostakovich College of Music in her home town Kurgan, Russia and the Vocal Department of the Moscow State Conservatory with Prof. Galina Pisarenko. Later on she participated in master classes with Elizabeth Bice, Richard Bado, Giandomenico Bisi, Gloria Guida Borelli, Diane Zola, and Lenore Rosenberg. In 2005 she was invited to perform the part of Eros in Orfeo ed Eurydice with the symphony orchestra of the Philharmonic Society of Kurgan, Russia. Since 2009 she is a soloist of Stanislavsky Opera Theatre, Moscow, where her repertoire comprises Mimi in La bohème, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, Micaela in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Cio-Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Leonora in La forza del destino, Emma in Khovanshchina, Eros in Orfeo ed Eurydice, the soprano part in Mozart’s Requiem, Lidochka in Shostakovich's Moskva, Cheryomushki, Antonia and Stella in Les contes d’Hoffmann, and Natasha Rostova in War and Peace. She was also heard as Tatiana in Eugene Onegin (Saarbrücken). Elena Guseva is the winner of the Silver Voice, All-Russian Competition of Young Singers (2nd prize, 2004). She is a laureate at the Ningbo Vocal Competition in China (4th prize, 2008), the Seventh Elena Obraztsova International Competition of Young Opera Singers (1st prize, 2009), Savonlinna International Singing Competition in Finland (3rd prize, 2010), International Singing Competition Francisco Viňas (3rd prize, 2011), and XIV Tchaikovsky Competition (3rd prize, 2011 and webcast audience choice).
