Sustainability

A key topic of (not just) the current season, is sustainability. This challenge to the entire world is obviously facing The National Theatre as well – which is why the theatre is already involved in an environment-friendly transformation. After all, a similar process is in store for all public institutions sooner or later. While the need to become greener was accelerated by the energy crisis, at The National Theatre, principles of sustainability have long been applied to all facets of production, from long-term energy strategies to set and costume design, to the operation of the entire institution, and even catering and human relations.

This section of our website introduces current or planned activities of The National Theatre aimed at upholding the principles of sustainable growth.
