The most celebrated of all dramatists succeeded in depicting virtually all human passions and weaknesses. Othello is one of the Bard’s best-known tragedies. Venice is at war, the armed forces are led by a man with a different colour of skin, all sorts of people aim to make a career… This is the background to the start of a tragedy in which even the bravest man of all loses his integrity.
