The famous novel by Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy, inspired by true events, tells the story of the strength of passion able to break down the barriers of convention in society. Anna Karenina, a woman full of desire and feelings, stunning in her exceptional beauty and elegance, is unable to keep her burning affair with the young officer, Alexej Vronský, secret. She leaves her husband, meaning that she loses not only her standing in society, but also – and this is the mst painful for her – also the possibility to see her young son. It is only a matter of time before her self-destructive love becomes a burden for the man she loves…

The immortality of this story is confirmed by a whole host of film, theatre, and even ballet adaptations in which the character of this tragic heroine has been portrayed by namy big names. In Pilsen’s production we can look forward to seeing Zuzana Pokorná and Michaela Musilová in the title role.
