How many forms can a heroic act assume? It may range from a discreet and soft word to a proficient physical performance. You can be a hero amidst turmoil, yet you need just as great a degree of personal courage in everyday life. Sometimes it suffices to add one’s signature…
While creating this breathtaking performance, choreographer and director Petr Zuska was inspired by the lives and songs of three great bards – Jacques Brel, Vladimir Vysotsky and Karel Kryl. His original theme, witty directorial concept, natural symbiosis of set, lighting design and costumes combine with fascinating dancing and build up exceptional atmosphere that stirs the emotions of excited audiences.
When in 2007 Zuska was conceiving his now cult production, he spoke through the voices of Brel, Vysotsky and Kryl, while also being shattered by the untimely death of another bard, his friend, the Czech actor Boris Rösner. Yet he imbued with truth every movement, idea and sequence of scenes.
For nearly fifteen years the show was closely tied with its leading dancers Michal Štípa (who was awarded the Thalia prize in 2007 for the main role) and Alexandre Katsapov (who now teaches new talents as ballet master). We present Solo for Three in the Estates Theatre.
