Conductor: Marc Minkowski
National Theatre Orchestra and Chorus
The renowned French conductor Marc Minkowski will present in Prague on 10 and 11 May 2018 a concert version of the opera La clemenza di Tito, as part of a Mozart triptych, scheduled to be held at the Estates Theatre. The other two parts of the project include a concert performance of Don Giovanni, conducted by Plácido Domingo (27 October 2017), and the premiere of a new production of Le nozze di Figaro (1 February 2018).
Marc Minkowski, the former artistic director of the Mozartwoche festival in Salzburg (2013–2017), currently serving as the director of the Opéra National de Bordeaux (since 2016), is known as a leading champion of historically informed performance of Baroque music and the founder of the celebrated Les Musiciens du Louvre (1982).
In addition to Baroque and Classical music, he also has a penchant for 20th-century music. Minkowski has worked with prominent European and American orchestras, including the Berliner and Wiener Philharmoniker, the Staatskapelle Dresden, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The most recent Prague production of La clemenza di Tito was staged at the Estates Theatre between 2006 and 2010, conducted by Alessandro de Marchi and directed by Ursel and Karl-Enst Herrmann.
We extend our thanks to the Bohemian Heritage Fund and to the National Theatre Benefactors‘ Club for their financial support of this project.
