The performance of Don Giovanni will be held to mark the 230th anniversary of its premiere at the Estates Theatre. The project will take place in cooperation between the National Theatre and the Domingo-Mozart-Prague Association.

Maestro Plácido Domingo, the most significant and remarkable figure of the today´s opera world, is coming up with the splendid idea of recreating the unique production of Mozart´s Don Giovanni opera in the Estates Theatre in Prague, the only still existing theatre in which W. A. Mozart performed. This production will celebrate Don Giovanni´s opening night performance that took place excatly 230 years ago. Maestro Domingo will take the role of a conductor and an artistic director in this production. The cast will feature extraordinary international excellent singers, Plácido Domingo's Operalia competition winners (the competition that discovered stars like José Cura, Rolando Villazón, Ana María Martínez) together with top Czech singers chosen by Maestro Domingo himself at the audition taking place in Prague in January 2017. This production is conceived as a replica of the legendary staging by the National Theatre Opera from 1969, which was the work of set designer Josef Svoboda and costume designer Teodor Pištěk.
