Leonardo Baghin
Biography
Leonardo Baghin is a talented Italian dancer whose career spans a wide range of classical and contemporary ballet roles. Currently a member of the National Moravian Ballet of Ostrava, he has performed significant roles including Firebird in Firebird by Marco Goecke, the third movement soloist in Heatscape by Justin Peck, and various soloist roles in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol by Yuri Vamos. He has also danced in productions such as Coppélia by Giorgio Madia, Swan Lake by Yuri Vamos, and The Cunning Little Vixen by Itzik Galili.
Leonardo's professional journey began with his training at the prestigious Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan, from which he graduated in 2023. His time at the academy provided opportunities to perform in major productions at Teatro alla Scala, including portraying the Nutcracker Prince in The Nutcracker by George Balanchine. He also performed in Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and Le Corsaire, staged at the same theater.
In addition to his training in Italy, Leonardo was awarded a full scholarship at the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in New York, where he trained during the 2016–2017 period. His participation in international competitions has earned him several top placements, including first place in various ballet contests. He was particularly recognized for his performance as the protagonist Pinocchio in the institutional project Read to Dance, directed by Arturo Cannistrà at Teatro Masini Faenza Ravenna.
Leonardo’s accomplishments also include winning first place at multiple prestigious competitions, such as the Crazy Dance Contest and the Expression Ballet Contest in Florence. He was named the best classical ballet talent at the Salieri Danza Ballet Contest in Verona and was awarded a scholarship and admission to Tanz Akademie Zürich in 2015.
