Soloist of the Opera
Mezzo-soprano Veronika Hajnová studied voice at the Conservatory and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under Ľuba Baricová. She has participated in several master classes both in the Czech Republic and Germany. In 2002 she was a semi-finalist of the Belvedere International Singing Competition in Vienna, where she won the CNIPAL award. While she was still studying, she performed at the Opera of the J.K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň. From 2004 do 2011 she was a soloist of Prague State Opera, since January 1, 2012 she has been a soloist of the National Theatra Opera in Prague and since 2012/2013 season, she has coupled this engagement with that of soloist at the Janáček Opera of the National Theatre Brno. Her repertoire includes the title role in Bizet’s Carmen; Charlotte (Massenet: Werther); Dalila (Saint-Saëns: Samson et Dalila), for which she received a nomination for the 2002 Thalia Award; the roles of Dorabella (Mozart: Così fan tutte), Suzuki (Puccini: Madama Butterfly), Verdi’s Azucena (Il trovatore) and Amneris (Aida), Olga (Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin), Venus (Wagner: Tannhäuser), Dvořák’s Witch (Rusalka) and Kate (The Devil and Kate). She has performed Carmen and Amneris on tours of Japan and Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Hungary), the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Seoul. A dedicated concert artist, Veronika Hajnová has cooperated with major orchestras (the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava or Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc). She has been invited to prestigious international music festivals including Prague Spring, Smetana’s Litomyšl, Janáček’s May in Ostrava, the Saint Wenceslas Festival in Prague and Ostrava, Opernair in Gars am Kamp, MITO Settembre musica in Milan and Turin, etc.
