Martin Levický

Martin Levický won a number of national and international piano competitions back during his childhood, including Amadeus Brno, Prague Junior Note, Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte in Ústí nad Labem, the Smetana International Piano Competition in Plzeň, as well as within the Prag – Wien – Budapest music festival in Austria. In 2005, he received the Yamaha scholarship. Moreover, he came first at the Bohuslav Martinů Competition in Prague (2007), third at the Leoš Janáček Competition in Brno (2008), he won the J. N. Hummel Piano Competition in Bratislava (2011). At the tender age of 12, he performed opposite the Prague Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gaetano Delogu, at the  New Year’s gala concert at the Spanish Hall of Prague Castle. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Slovak Philharmonic, Brno Philharmonic, Virtuosi di Praga, Solisti di Praga, Bacău Philharmonic, Plzeň Theatre Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, and other orchestras and ensemble. He has worked with the conductors P. Altrichter, P. Vronský, F. Vajnar, R. Štúr, E. Siffer, and others. Martin Levický has performed at the Beethoven Fest in Bonn, within the Musikerlebnis Mitteleuropa concert cycles in Vienna and Krakow, as well as in Sewanee, USA, and at the Kyoto festival of young artists (2006). Acclaimed too were the performances he gave with the cellist Frans Helmerson in Santander, Spain (2005). Levický also accompanied the violinist Josef Suk at a concert at the Štiřín chateau. In 2009, he was selected to participate in the “Masters on Tour” project, within which he also appeared at the Rachmaninov Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. His first teachers were Miluše Kárová and Jiří Toman. At the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Levický studied with Peter Toperczer and Boris Krajný.
