Guest of the Opera
In the last seasons, Enrico Dovico served as first guest conductor at the Volksoper in Vienna. He regularly conducts at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf–Duisburg and the State Opera, with which he has collaborated since 1995. In 1997, Enrico Dovico was named first Kapellmeister of the Staatstheater Wiesbaden and subsequently mainly worked in Germany, with other major phases of his career being engagements at the theatres in Mannheim and Cologne. In 2006, Enrico Dovico accepted the invitation of the Olympics Committee and on 11 February 2006 conducted the concert opening the Medals Plaza within the Winter Olympic Games in Turin, with the artists performing with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI di Torino including the feted tenor Andrea Bocelli. In 2007, Enrico Dovico participated in the Prague State Opera’s tour of Japan, conducting its production of La traviata, and in the following year he appeared with the company and its production of Turandot at the Großes Festpielhaus in Salzburg. In May 2008, he prepared Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera in José Cura’s stage direction in Cologne. In the 2009/10 season, he returned to Italy to undertake a new staging of Nabucco at the Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce. In 2012, he again visited Japan, conducting the Volksoper Wien’s performances of Die Fledermaus and Die lustige Witwe, which were recorded by NHK TV. In addition to the Italian and French repertoire, Enrico Dovico also conducts German works (C. M. von Weber, R. Wagner, R. Strauss) and 20th-century music (E. W. Korngold, B. Britten, H. W. Henze, A. Berg). At the National Theatre Opera and State Opera in Prague he has currently conducted Bellini´s Norma (2015), Donizetti´s Viva la Mamma (2017) and Mozart´s Le nozze di Figaro (2018).
