Vladimír Morávek is a phenomenal theatre-maker. Under his artistic direction, the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové was elected three times Theatre of the Year, while 11 of his productions have been nominated for Production of the Year. He has worked across Europe, including in Austria, France, Sweden and Russia. His film Bored in Brno won five Czech Lion awards. At the present time, he serves as artistic director of Brno’s Husa na provázku Theatre, aspiring to become a centre of experimental theatre in Europe and beyond.
Vladimír Morávek is of the opinion that morality and catharsis are eminent subjects that have to be paid attention to upon any terms.
A book, titled U nás nudou neumřete (You Won’t Die of Boredom Here), has been written about him. He has a son, Alexandr, and a peach orchard near Litvínov, and possesses a great ability to discover astonishing talents.
Morávek has shot for Czech Television and the FEBIO company some 43 documents about the people he loves or likes. His motto is: If someone throws a bricks-and-mortar theatre at you, throw an alternative theatre back at him.
