Biography

Born in Chisinau, Veaceslav Burlac studied at the State Moldovan Dance Conservatory in 1999-2007. His school performances included variations from The Flames of Paris, Paquita and La Sylphida, the Pas de Deux in the Nutcracker, Le Corsaire and La Fille mal gardée. In 2005 and 2006 he went on tour in Spain with classical ballets The Nutcracker, Don Quijote and Swan Lake (the Clown). In 2007-2008 he studied at the Prague Dance Conservatory and joined the school performances of the Sleeping Beauty (Cavalier) and Stmíváníčko (Twilight) by Czech choreographer Libor Vaculík. In 2006 he participated in international ballet contests in Kiev, Lviv (2th place), Odessa (Grand Prix) and Brno. In 2008 he appeared as a Russian soldier in a film called English Strawberries by Czech film-maker Vladimír Drha.
Prague State Opera soloist since the 2008/2009 season, he has seen his most memorable moments there so far as the jester and in the pas de trois of Swan Lake, the male part in the wedding pas de deux of Giselle, and as Alexei in The Sleeping Beauty – the Czar’s Last Daughter, a role which earned him a place on the long list for the 2010 Thalia Award.
