Biography

Václava Krejčí Housková is operatic mezzosoprano. She was born in 1983 in České Budějovice, where she studied voice in conservatory with D. Volfová. After that she attended Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts with as a student of J.  Přívratská. In 2010 she performed in prestigious opera festival the Wexford Opera Festival in Ireland as Marianna (Rossini: Il Signor Bruchino) and Mistress of the novices (Puccini: Suor Angelica). During her studies her cooperation with Chamber Opera Prague began. With this ensemble she toured abroad, appearing in the roles of Marcellina and Cherubin (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), the Third Lady and the Third Boy (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte). Since 2010 she has been permanent cast member of the Moravian Theatre Olomouc. This is where her operatic engagements include roles such as Mozart´s Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Olga (Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin), Fenena (Verdi: Nabucco), Pippo (Rossini: La gazza ladra), Mercedes (Bizet: Carmen), Háta (Smetana: The Bartered Bride), Káča (Dvořák: The Devil and Kate) or Qucikly (Verdi: Falstaff). She is regular guest singer at the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec in the role of Tigrana (Puccini: Edgar), Orfeo (Gluck: Orfeo ed Euridice), Cornelia (Handel: Giulio Cesare) or Angel (Rubinstein: The Demon). She has also cooperated with the National Theatre Brno as a guest artist, performing as Mother (Martinů: Les Larmes du Couteau), Tisbe (Rossini: La Cenerentola), Flora (Verdi: La Traviata), Ninette (Verdi: Les vêpres siciliennes) and the Third Wood Sprite (Dvořák: Rusalka). In June 2013 she successfully participated as Smeton (Donizetti: Anna Bolena) at the National Theatre of Moravia and Silesia in Ostrava. In season 2014 she´s going to sing the role of Bizet´s Carmen (the Moravian Theatre Olomouc), Nicklausse (Offenbach: The Tales of Hoffmann) in the Theatre in Plzeň and in the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec. She´s also going to make her debut at the National Theatre in Prague in the role of Lapák (Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen). She performed as the Third Wood Sprite (Dvořák: Rusalka) in the Royal Opera House Muscat in Arabian Oman.
