Václav Lemberk

Soloist of the Opera

Born in 1973, Václav Lemberk studied singing at the Teacher-Training College in Plzeň and at the Academy of Music in Prague. He is a graduate of several singing master classes (Andrej Kucharský, Marius van Altena, Roman Janál). Between 1998 and 2001 he won the National Singing Competition of Teacher-Training Colleges on four successive occasions, while in 2001 at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary he was awarded the Czech Radio Prize. He cooperates in projects pertaining to authentic performance of Baroque operas. He presents himself as a chamber singer with a prolific song, oratorio, as well as operatic repertoire. Since 2005 he is the soloist of the National Theatre Opera and he performes here, among many other roles, Smetana’s Vašek (The Bartered Bride) and Jirka (The Secret), Nikolio (Martinů: The Greek Passion), Remendado (Bizet: Carmen), Don Curzio (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Verdi’s Gaston (La traviata), or Bardolfo (Falstaff).
