Biography

The german bass-baritone Thomas Gazheli is a regular guest at the international opera and concert stages. Recent operatic highlights include, among many others: Flying Dutchman at Semperoper Dresden, at the Royal Danish Opera Copenhagen, at the Hungarian State opera in Budapest, at the Opéra de Montreal, at Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, at the Greek National Opera in Athens, at Michigan Opera Theatre, and at NCPA Beijing; Jochanaan at Oper Bonn and Oper Graz; Don Pizarro at Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège; Orest in Detroit; Telramund in Opéra de Marseille; Alberich at Opera de Oviedo and Staatstheater Kassel; Alberich, Amfortas, Telramund, Wanderer and Nabucco at Tyrolean Festival Erl, Rigoletto at Saarlaendisches Staatstheater in Saarbruecken, etc. He is also known as concert singer with a broad concert repertoire.
Thomas Gazheli was born in Karlsruhe, where he began his musical education as trumpet- and violin player. He studied singing at the Hochschule Frankfurt am Main and in Munich.
