Peter Werner

Biography

After graduating from the Folkwang University in Essen, Peter Werner worked as a set and costume designer in Wuppertal. Today he has more than a hundred music theatre productions to his credit. In addition, he has also created sets for a host of drama and ballet productions. Cooperation in productions has led him to the stages of many theatres both in Germany and abroad, for instance, in Munich, Bremen, Darmstadt, Münster. He has also participated in the Contemporary Arts Festival in Banff, Canada, and worked for the Houston Grand Opera. Peter Werner has also designed sets and costumes for opera houses in Linz, Dublin, Montreal, Wiesbaden, Graz, Karlsruhe and Erfurt. His most recent sets are for productions of the operas Love Counts and Eugene Onegin in Badischen Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and Der Rosenkavalier for Erfurt. He worked on all three productions with the stage director Robert Tannenbaum, with whom he has collaborated since 1986.
