First soloist of The Czech National Ballet

Biography

A gifted young artist possessing great dramatic and technical skills, elegance and charm, he has portrayed lead roles in classical and contemporary ballets alike, mastering a variety of styles and genres with aplomb within a wide spectre of dance theatre. 

Born in Prague in 1994, Patrik Holeček graduated from the Prague Dance Conservatory in 2014. In the same year he became a member of the Czech National Ballet, where two years later he was named a demi-soloist and in 2019 a soloist. In April 2021, he became a first soloist. 

The National Theatre audiences have seen him in a number of classical repertoire roles. His most significant success to date is the nomination for the coveted Thalia Prize for the performance of the title role in Onegin (John Cranko). Patrik has excelled as Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty (Marcia Haydée), the Prince in Swan Lake (John Cranko), the Nutcracker and Bob Cratchit in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Youri Vàmos), the Prince in Leonce & Lena (Christian Spuck), Colas in La Fille mal gardée (Frederick Ashton), Prince Desiré and Blue Bird again in The Sleeping Beauty (Marcia Haydée), Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (John Cranko), Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire (John Neumeier) and other roles.

He has also dazzled in contemporary and neoclassical choreographies, including Kafka: The Trial (Mauro Bigonzetti), Symphony No. 7 in A major (Uwe Scholz), Ohad Naharin – decadance (Ohad Naharin), in the mixed bill Timeless, in which he performed the Father and the two boys’ solo in Le Sacre du printemps (Glen Tetley), and Serenade (George Balanchine). Patrik has danced solos in Aspects (Katarzyna Kozielska), Dumka (Ondřej Vinklát), as well as in Bella Figura, Symphony of Psalms, Petite Mort, Gods and Dogs (Jiří Kylián), Dos soles solos (Alejandro Cerrudo), and Puppet (Douglas Lee).

He danced in various other choreographies such as Prelude und Liebestod (Cayetano Soto), The Second Detail (William Forsythe), EDEN | EDEN (Wayne McGregor), ARTZA (Eyal Dadon), Bill (Sharon Eyal), Moving Rooms (Krzysztof Pastor), Frank Bridge Variantions (Hans van Manen) and Fly Paper Bird (Marco Goecke). He interpreted the Father in Cinderella (Jean-Christophe Maillot).
