Oleg Bryjak

Biography

After studying singing in Kazakhstan, in 1991 the bass baritone Oleg Bryjak was engaged by the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe. Since the 1996/1997 season he has been a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Engagements within guest appearances have led him to opera houses, in Leipzig, Zürich, Paris, Vienna and Berlin among others. Oleg Bryjak can be heard on several recordings, for example, of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen and Shostakovich’s opera Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District. His repertoire includes the roles of Rossini's Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Mustafa (L’Italiana in Algieri), Verdi's Iago (Othello), Wagner's Alberich (Der Ring des Nibelungen), Hans Sachs (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and Klingsor (Parsifal), Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Janáček's Dr. Kolenatý (The Markopulos Affair), Puccini's Michele (Il tabarro) and Gianni Schicchi.Update: 2005
