Martina Zadro

Biography

Guest of the National Theatre Opera. Born in Zagreb. She graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music in 1996 where she studied singing in the class of Prof. S. Bujanović-Stanislav. In 2001 she finished her Masters in the same class. While pursuing postgraduate studies in Zagreb she also studied with Professor Gerhard Zeller at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz where she graduated in 1999. She has worked many Master Classes and regularily works with Prof. Eva Blahová. Among lot of prizes, Martina Zadro has won the 1999 Lucia Popp International Singing Competition (Bratislava) and 1999 Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition (Karlovy Vary). In 1995 she made her debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb as Barbarina (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) and the following year Papagena (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte). Other roles have included Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Yelena in Nikola Subic Zrinjski by Ivan Zajc and Giulietta (Bellini: I Capuletti e i Montecchi). In 2000 she made her debut as Micaëla (Bizet: Carmen) at the Prague State Opera. In 2000/2001 she participated in the European Opera Centre’s project as the Vixen in Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen, leaded by Kent Nagano. At the National Theatre in Prague she sings Pamina (tour to Japan in 2001) and Susanna. Presently Martina Zadro is a member of the Slovenian National Opera Ljubljana. She has performed with many orchestras (the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Croatian Radio-TV Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic, the Bratislava Chamber orchestra "Capella Istropolitana", the Zagreb Soloists). She gave many solo-recitals in Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Ireland, France and Slovakia accompanied most often by her sister Lana Bradić.www.martinazadro.com Update: September 2008
