Biography
Polish conductor Łukasz Borowicz made his Prague National Theatre debut (Dvořák: Rusalka) in February 2017. He conducted most of the major European orchestras (London Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, radio orchestras in Hanover and Leipzig, Prague Symphony Orchestra, PKF – Prague Philharmonia, among others) as well as Israel Philharmonic and Queensland Symphony Orchestra etc. In the years 2007–2015 he was the chief conductor of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw, since 2021/2022 season he has been chief conductor and music director of the Poznań Philharmonic and the first guest conductor of the Krakow Philharmonic. He made his debut as an opera conductor in October 2006 at the Polish National Opera in Warsaw, where he returns regularly. In October 2018 he was the first Polish conductor to appear at the Paris National Opera (Meyerbeer: Les Huguenots), and in December 2019 he debuted at the Theater an der Wien (Moniuszko: Halka). In 2022, he conducted Janáček’s Diary of one who disappeared and Falla’s El amor brujo at the Opéra national du Rhin. His rich discography includes more than 100 albums, four of which won Diapason d'Or awards. Łukasz Borowicz was born in 1977 in Warsaw, where he graduated from the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music.
