Biography

Lucia Škandíková studied costume and mask design at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and for six months at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. A theatre and film sets and costume creator, she has mainly focused on documentary theatre, installations and design. She has worked with the stage directors Daniel Špinar, Viliam Dočolomanský, Jan Frič, Jan Nebeský, Veronika Riedlbauchová, Matija Solc and others. She has designed sets for numerous productions at theatres in the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Estonia, with the most noteworthy being Hamlet at the Švanda Theatre,  The Informers at the Ponec Theatre, Velvet Havel at the Na zábradlí Theatre in Prague, The Beggar’s Opera at the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové, My Romantic Story at the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava, Valmont at the Reduta in Brno, as well as The Taming of the Shrew within the Summer Shakespeare Festival at Prague Castle. At the National Theatre in Prague, she has worked with the stage director Daniel Špinar on the productions of Shakespeare’s Othello and Mike Bartlett’s Earthquakes in London
