Kristina Kornová

Demisoloist of The Czech National Ballet (currently on maternity leave)

Biography

Kristina Kornová was born in Prague. At the age of three she started folk dancing in the Valášek ensemble and travelled abroad extensively. At the age of ten she performed in the Semafor Theatre with Jiří Suchý and also sang in Les Misérables.
She studied at the Dance Conservatory in Prague under the tutelage of Jaroslav Slavický, Hana Vláčilová a Kateřina Slavická. She graduated in 2012. During her studies Kristina danced in Bohemia Balet in choreographies of Petr Zuska, Jiří Kylián or Serge Lifar. She also participated in various competitions – in France (fourth place), in Olomouc (first place), in Prague or in Brno. She is a member of Dekkadancers, a project-based, contemporary dance company. 
In 2013 she became a member of the Czech National Ballet, she is a demisoloist. At The National Theatre she performed not only classical roles – The Swan Lake (P. Ďumbala and H. Vláčilová), The Swan Lake (K. Greve), The Snow Queen (M. Corder) – but also modern repertoire roles – Krabat (J. Kodet), Czech Ballet Symphony II. / Guru (V. Konvalinka), Stabat Mater (P. Zuska), Ballettissimo / Symphony No. 7 in A major (U. Scholz), OHAD NAHARIN – Decadance (O. Naharin).
Currently Kristina can be seen in well-known classical ballets: The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (Y. Vàmos) where she dances the Spanish and Oriental dance solos, La Bayadère (J. Torres) or La Fille mal gardée (F. Ashton).
She excels in contemporary pieces: Brel – Vysotsky – Kryl / Solo for Three (P. Zuska), Romeo and Juliet (P. Zuska), Vertigo / Rain (R. Poklitaru), The Litte Mermaid (J. Kodet), Tremble (P. Zuska), Solo for the Two of Us (P. Zuska).
She also dances in several performances that came on stage upon the arrival of the new artistic director Filip Barankiewicz: Timeless / Serenade (G. Balanchine) and Separate Knots (E. Gat), Slavic Temper/ Dumka (O. Vinklát) and Perfect Example (A. Kajdanovskij), Kylián – Bridges of Time / Bella figura (J. Kylián).
Kristina Kornová has always liked contemporary dance but classical ballet has given her new and exciting experiences, technical skills, inspiration, knowledge and motivation to work hard.
