Karolina Cachová-Pogatsová

Biography

Demi-soloist of the National Theatre Ballet Karolína Pogatsová was born in 1981 in Opava. She studied at the Prague Dance Conservatory under the tutelage of Prof. Aneta Voleská, graduating in 1999. In the same year she was engaged by the National Theatre in Prague as a member of the corps de ballet. In 2006 she became a demi-soloist. She has danced in choreographies by Vasili Medvedev: Onegin, Alexander Schneider: Carmen, Libor Vaculík: Isadora Duncan – The Story of a Famous Dancer, Lucrezia Borgia and Romeo and Juliet, Yuri Grigorovich: Raymonda, George Balanchine: Who Cares?, and John Cranko: The Taming of the Shrew and Onegin. Her solo parts include the variations Fairy Exuberance and Stones in Sleeping Beauty (choreography: M. Petipa), the variation Autumn in Cinderella (choreography: J. Jílek), the role of Zyulma in Giselle (choreography: C. Hampson), the Spanish Doll variation in The Nutcracker (choreography: Y. Grigorovich), the Arabian Dance in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol and Juliet’s Friend in Romeo and Juliet (choreography: Y. Vámos), Pas de trois (Acts I and II) and the Bride in Swan Lake (choreography: Lev Ivanov, Marius Petipa, Erich Walter, Růžena Mazalová, Vlastimil Harapes), the 1st Sylph in the ballet La Sylphide and Pas de six in Act III from Napoli. As regards the modern repertoire, she has danced in choreographies by Petr Zuska: Ways 03, Among the Mountains, Ibbur, or A Prague Mystery, Requiem, D.M.J. 1953-1977, Jiří Kylián: Petite Mort; Sinfonietta, Alvin Ailey: The River (Americana II), Nacho Duato: Jardí Tancat, Itzik Galili: Through Nana’s Eyes, Conny Janssen: Álbum Familiar, and in Jan Kodet’s children’s ballet Goldilocks. In 1998 Karolína Pogatsová took part in CONTEST 98 in Vienna and in 2003 in the Competition of Dance Artists of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in Brno.
