Biography
Guest of the National Theatre Opera.
Born in America, he received his musical education at the University of Washington and made his operatic debut in South America in 1991. Engagements brought him first to Boston, the Opera Theater of St. Louis, the Minnesota Opera, to Santa Fe, the Florida Grand Opera, to the New York City Opera, and the Seattle Opera, and then to Amsterdam, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Staatsopern of Berlin and Hamburg, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Bruxelles, Dresden, Geneva, the Royal Opera House London, Teatro Real in Madrid, to Marseille, Paris, the Pesaro Opera, to Rome, Opera Australia in Sydney, the Theater an der Wien, the Vienna Osterklang and Klangbogen, Wiener Staatsoper, and to the Salzburger Pfingstfestspiele.
Furthermore, he regularly appeared at the Komische Oper Berlin, the New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, and the Salzburg Festival. He had his debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York at the end of September 2006 with the role of Arbace in Mozarts Idomeneo under James Levine.
His repertoire includes all Mozart, as well as the lyric italian and french repertoire, recently also German romantic operas, such as Evangelimann by Wilhelm Kienzel in 2007 (Opernhaus Graz) and include his debut as Tito in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito in February 2008 (Staatstheater Stuttgart) and Don José in Bizet’s Carmen in March 2008 (Volksoper Wien).
