Jakub Kudláč

Biography

Jakub Kudláč graduated from the State Conservatory in Bratislava, studied philosophy at the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University and received his PhD at the Film Academy FAMU.

As a composer of scenical music he collaborates with directors Štěpán Pácl, Natalia Deáková, Miroslav Bambušek and Jiří Adámek. His music has been featured in the films Blue Tiger, Golden Trick, Gottland, First World Problems, Vratislav Effenberger or The Hunt for the Black Shark, as well as in animated and short films.

He wrote the theme music for the Prague Quadrennial 2007, the One World Film Festival 2006 and the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival 2005. He published a CD of "screechy songs for children" BAOMUZIKK. He teaches at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín and FAMU and writes about film music for HisVoice magazine.

At the National Theatre Drama he has collaborated on productions From the Dust of Stars (2013), The Blue Bird (2015), Like a Razor (Němcová), Press Space To Continue and Three Sisters (the last three in 2016), Faust and Zbyhoň! (both 2018), The Misanthrope (2019) and most recently Vassa Zheleznova (2021).
