Gwendolyn Killebrew

Biography

Since 1976 Gwendolyn Killebrew has been a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein, which conferred upon her the title of Chamber Singer. Following her studies in the USA, she performed on concert and opera stages on both sides of the Atlantic. She has sung at the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Munich’s Staatstheater and the Bayreuth Festival. In the 2001/2002 season she guested in the role of Mother Goose in Stravinsky’s opera The Rake‘s Progress at Paris‘ Théâtre des Champs Élysées and in 2003 as Cornelia in Händl’s Julius Caesar at Stuttgart’s Staatstheater. At Deutsche Oper am Rhein Gwendolyn Killebrew has sung all the major roles in her field, recently, for example, Maddalena (Rigoletto), Bizet’s Carmen, Mrs. Quickly (Falstaff), Buryjovka (Jenůfa), Erde (Das Rheingold), Ericlea (Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria) and Nutrice (L’Incoronazione di Poppea).
