Biography
Gundega Laiviņa runs the New Theatre Institute of Latvia, a project-based organisation working in the field of contemporary theatre and dance. Since 2009, she is the artistic and managing director of Homo Novus, International Festival of Contemporary Theatre. She was a curator of the Latvian exposition at three latest editions of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space and a member of the curatorial team of the Latvian pavilion at Biennale di Venezia 16th International Architecture Exhibition. From 2010 till 2014, she was a member of the artistic board of Riga – European Cultural Capital 2014, being specifically responsible for site-specific initiatives and artistic practices involving communities. Gundega has studied music, theory of culture and social anthropology, and has received several European level diplomas and certificates in cultural studies and arts management.
