Frances Ginzer

Biography

The Canadian soprano was between 1987 and 1997 a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Following her change of focus to more dramatic roles, she debuted in 1993 as Turandot and since then has performed on a host of opera stages both at home and abroad, among them the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Stuttgart’s State Opera, at the Bayreuth Festival, in London, Trieste, Zürich, New York’s Metropolitan Opera, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, Buenos Aires, Toronto, Tokyo and Taipei. Her repertoire includes the roles of Senta (The Flying Dutchman), Isolde (Tristan und Isolde), Brünnhilde (Der Ring des Nibelungen), as well as Leonora (Fidelio), Tosca and Gioconda (La Gioconda). Recently she celebrated great success at the Frankfurt Opera singing the title role in Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
