Biography

Dutch soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek is internationally recognized as one of the leading operatic artists of our time. She has been acclaimed in most of the world’s greatest opera houses and concert halls, engagements including Sieglinde (Die Walküre) for the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Frankfurt Oper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Covent Garden in London, Baden-Baden and Bayreuth and Aix-en-Provence festivals, Francesca da Rimini, Katerina Ismailova (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) and Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) for the Metropolitan Opera, Santuzza for Covent Garden, Minnie (La fanciulla del West) for Oper Frankfurt and Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Minnie, Katerina Ismailova and Cassandra (Les Troyens) for Dutch National Opera, Chrysothemis (Elektra) for Salzburg Festival, Kaťa Kabanová for Berlin State Opera, Empress (Die Frau ohne Schatten) for Opéra-Bastille in Paris, Jenůfa and Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos) for Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Manon Lescaut for La Monnaie in Brussels and Baden-Baden, Leonora (La forza del destino) for La Monnaie and Vienna State Opera, Isolde (Tristan und Isolde) for Semperoper Dresden and Baden-Baden, Francesca da Rimini for Opéra de Monte Carlo or Maddalena (Andrea Chénier) for Covent Garden. Eva-Maria Westbroek studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. She gave her professional debut in the role of Tosca at Teatro Manzoni in Milan at the age of twenty-five. From 2001 to 2006 she was a company member of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, her roles including Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Carlotta (Die Gezeichneten). Since spring 2014 she has been Ambassador for Musicians  without Borders and happy to engage herself in this social project.
