Biography

Soprano Erika Jarkovská studied singing at the Prague Conservatory. During her studies she participated in Karlovy Vary International interpretative seminar, which was held under the leadership of P. Dvorský, M. Hajóssyová  and M. Blahušiaková. Here she was selected to perform at the final gala concert with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. From 1999-2011 she was a member of Prague State Opera, where she also performed in a number of solo roles: as first lady (Zemlinsky: Es war einmal), Kuchtík, Nymph nm.2 (Dvořák: Rusalka), Mercedes (Bizet: Carmen ), Annina, Flora (La traviata), Giovanna and Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), Priestess (Verdi: Aida), Shepherd (Puccini: Tosca), Masha (Tchaikovsky: The Queen of Spades), Papagena and 2nd Lady (Mozart: The Magic Flute ) and others. In 2007 based on audition she was chosen by the Italian director Pier Luigi Pizzi for the opera by Francis Poulenc The Breasts of Tiresias, which was presented at the Prague State Opera as a Czech premiere in which Erika Jarkovská portrayed in the roles of Newsagent, Lady and Journalist. In 2011, she presented herself as Laura (Weber: The Three Pintos). In 2012-2014 she was a soloist of NT Opera - Zerlina (Mozart: Don Giovanni) and Barbarina (Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro). With the role of Barbarina she toured Japan with the NT Opera in 2013. Director Karel Drgáč chose her to be a guest at the opera festival in the Austrian town of Gars am Kamp (2010 and 2011) in the role of Anna (Verdi: La traviata) and Mercedes (Bizet: Carmen). She appeared several times as a guest singer in the J.K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen. She also gives concerts,  among others she sang the Japanese concert of film music in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig with the Prague Symphony Orchestra.
