Efe Kişlali

Guest of the Opera

Turkish tenor Efe Kişlali graduated from the State Conservatory of Istanbul University and made his opera debut as Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore in 1996. He launched his international career in 2003 when guest appeared at the Eutin festival, Germany, in the role of Ismael (Nabucco). His signature part is Verdi’s Otello, the role which Efe Kişlali has sung in many opera houses. Other important parts include Radames (Aida), Calaf (Turandot), Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Vladimir (Prince Igor), Samson (Samson et Dalila), Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Sporting Life (Porgy and Bess) or Alfred (Die Fledermaus). At the State Opera Istanbul he has created Manrico (Il trovatore), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Otello, Don José (Carmen), Pollione (Norma) and the title role in the world premiere of the opera Deli Dumrul by Sabahattin Kalender (2003). In Riga he sang Radames, Des Grieux and Calaf, in Ankara and at the famous opera festival in Aspendos he sang Foresto (Attila), in Lima, Peru, he appeared as Otello, in Sarajevo as Don José and in Bucharest as Radames and Calaf. In 2008, he made his American debut, in the role of Radames in Baltimore. In the Czech Republic he performed for he first time in December 2006, at the State Opera Prague as Radames. Since then he has sung in this opera house also Des Grieux, Otello and Calaf.
