Biography

The Czech soprano Doubravka Součková made her debut at the National Theatre in Prague on 1 December 2017 as Jano (Janáček’s Jenůfa) and has since appeared as a guest in the roles of Oscar (Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera), the Young Waiter/Child Prodigy/Student (Janáček’s The Excursions of Mr. Brouček), the First Wood Nymph (Dvořák’s Rusalka), the Queen of the Night (Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (Mozart’s Don Giovanni) and Frasquita (Bizet’s Carmen). For the Janáček Academy of Music’ Chamber Opera company, she portrayed the Coloratura Soprano in Cimarosa’s farce L'impresario in angustie, Mozart’s Queen of the Night and the title role in Orff’s Die Kluge. Furthermore, she has performed as Ophelia (Thomas’s Hamlet) and Ilia (Mozart’s Idomeneo) at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, as Musetta (Puccini’s La bohème) at the National Theatre in Brno, as Martinů’s Juliette and as Elinor (Křička’s The Gentleman in White) at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, and as Elena (Boito’s Mefistofele) at the South Bohemia Theatre in České Budějovice. Doubravka Součková studied at the Brno Conservatoire (graduating in 2015) and the Janáček Academy of Music (graduating in 2020 under the tutelage of Helena Kaupová). She has garnered numerous accolades, including at the Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary.
